Royal Palms Resort and Spa Scottsdale: A Luxury Hotel Review

By the time December rolled around in Chicago, I was ready for a warm climate escape. I planned a trip to Arizona and spent a few days at Royal Palms Resort and Spa and loved it! The following blog post is all about my stay at Royal Palms Resort & Spa in Scottsdale.

ROYAL PALMS RESORT AND SPA SCOTTSDALE

Royal Palms is a charming, Spanish-inspired luxury hotel. The resort is located at the base of Camelback mountain. It’s less than a 10-minute drive from Old Town Scottsdale and 15-minute drive from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

This 5-star Scottsdale resort has 119-rooms, 4 restaurants/bars, 1 pool and dozens of photo worthy corners that immediately transport you to another country.

The property is spacious and although travel has been slow this past year, I didn’t feel like I was on top of other guests.

ROYAL PALMS RESORT AND SPA SCOTTDALE ROOMS

There are a variety of rooms to choose from including standard rooms, deluxe suites and villas. The room we stayed in, and that you see pictured in this blog post, was the King Casita. It had a private backdoor patio along with a front patio overlooking the resort gardens.

In addition to the standard locked door, the room had twin-doors that opened up to our front patio. This allowed plenty of sunlight and fresh air to come in.

One of my favorite parts about the front patio was the rollaway firepit. We enjoyed charcuterie and wine out there which was a great way to relax before heading to dinner that night. The rollaway firepit is available as room service to any room with an outdoor space.

Inside the room was a king bed, wood-burning fireplace, mini-fridge, mini-bar and coffee/tea. The bathroom had a stand-up shower, his & hers sink and cozy robes/linens.

ON-SITE RESTAURANTS

There are multiple on-site restaurants and bars at Royal Palms Resort and Spa Scottsdale. This made it easy for us to not have to leave the property to eat.

Each of the below restaurants offer outdoor seating. They also conveniently charge your bill to your room, so you only have to worry about one single transaction at the end of your stay.

Mix-Up – We came here for drinks and a snack on the first night. They only offer small bites so plan for this to be your happy hour spot or to grab a quick appetizer before dinner.

I recommend the signature pesto and olives. They also have fantastic Happy Hour deals during select hours. You can’t beat half priced apps and discounted drinks.

T. Cooks – We brunched here on the first morning. They offer breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner and trust me when I say their whole menu looks delicious. I went on the lighter side with a fruit parfait but everyone else at the table had dishes that looked great.

We sat outside and I thought the outdoor garden décor was SO charming. How cute is this floral framing to our table?

Cabana Café – This is the poolside food & drink café. They offer a full drink menu along with appetizers and light entrees. We didn’t eat here but I got the picante margarita and it did not disappoint!

ROYAL PALMS RESORT AND SPA SCOTTSDALE PROPERTY

Aside from dining on site, there is plenty to keep you entertained on the property. What I loved most about this hotel was the incredible view of Camelback Mountain which you can see no matter where on the property you’re standing.

We spent one morning laying out at the pool for a few hours. The palm-tree lined pool space is amazing. It had plenty of pool-chairs, private cabanas you can rent and a hot tub.

Temps hit a high of 70 the day we laid out (we were there the day after Christmas), so the pool wasn’t super crowded.

Aside from the above pool, there are three other places on the property with smaller fountains to relax at. The first is in the Mansion Courtyard, where Mix-Up is at. The second is quietly tucked away on the side of the property and has pool-chairs for laying out. The third is in an open area as you pass between T. Cooks and the pool.

I wasn’t kidding when I said this hotel has plenty of picturesque corners. We couldn’t help but stop to take photos in so many cute spots.

The evening we grabbed drinks at Mix-Up, they had live music playing. I’m not sure how often they do this but we were there on a Saturday night. It was such a nice surprise.

There is also a Royal Palms spa and fitness studio on-site, although we did not have time to visit either.

We absolutely loved our stay at Royal Palms Resort and Spa Scottsdale. The hospitality was amazing and I can’t wait to return. If you’re looking for the best in Scottsdale luxury hotels, I can’t recommend this place enough. Book your stay HERE.

      Hi Val

Thank you for the kind words and for checking out my blog in return. I just have a pre-purchased theme from Pipdig and have managed all other design by myself 🙂 it has been a huge learning curve but I’m trying to start posting more consistently on my blog!

      Take care!
      Jen
