15 Colorful Walls That Will Brighten Up Your Instagram Feed

Traveling to Chicago and looking for the best murals in and outside of the city? Below is my roundup of the best walls I’ve discovered over the last two years!

Flamingo Wall – 601 N Wells St

This is one of the most photographed walls in Chicago. Since it’s right in the heart of River North, it’s easy for tourists to find. Plus you can stop inside the restaurant for a fruity cocktail after you take your photos!

“Greetings from Chicago” – 2226 N Milwaukee Ave

I feel like this wall is totally underrated. I’ve only seen it on Instagram a handful of times in the two years I’ve been blogging and I don’t know why because it’s such a fun design!

Maison Marcel Coffee Shop – 2008 N Halsted St

This mural is actually painted on the garage door attached to this adorable alleyway coffee spot. Maison Marcel just opened this 2nd location recently and the wall is already a fan favorite on social media. Please note the coffee window is actually in the back alley and not on Halsted.

Garfield Park Conservatory Fountain – 300 N Central Park Ave

This spot isn’t necessarily a mural but the design that makes up the backdrop to this fountain still makes for a beautiful photo-op. Plus it’s right inside the Garfield Park Conservatory which has so many other photo ops for you while you’re there!

Sunflower Wall – 1914 W Chicago Ave

This wall is wedged between two retail spots on Chicago Ave so it can be easy to miss but I think that makes it more of a hidden gem.

Spiral Wall – 925 W Randolph

This spiral wall is located behind Formento’s on Randolph Street. Both times I’ve been here, there has been a delivery truck driver parked right in front of the wall so I would plan to visit after those typical early morning deliveries.

Black Angel Wings – 180 N Morgan St

Chicago has certainly “earned it’s wings” with this wall. This one definitely ranks up there with the wing walls of LA & Nashville!

Flower Walls (3) – 3637 N. Southport Ave

This is a three-for-one because there are multiple flowers of different types/colors along one large wall. You can’t miss this spot as you head down Southport Ave.

Tuco & Blondie – 3358 N Southport Ave

This wall offers an eclectic combo of pink, green and white and is outside of a really good Mexican restaurant so you can grab a bite when you visit!

Flower Walls (3) – 4905 Old Orchard Shopping Center

This is another three-for-one wall. Three gorgeous floral designs all very unique from each other right along the same wall.

Chicago Flag Wings – 4905 Old Orchard Shopping Center

Just down the alley from the flower wall mentioned above, you’ll find a mini-wing-mural whose theme is the Chicago flag!

Eden – 1748 W Lake St

I had seen this beautiful wall outside of Eden Restaurant for close to a year before going to visit it. I was surprised when I showed up to see that they had repainted it a slightly different pattern (still with a similar shade of green and a leafy design though!)

Sweet Mandy B’s – 1208 W Webster Ave

You can find this wall inside of the most adorable bakery in Lincoln Park. This makes for a great place to shoot during the cold Chicago winter when you’d rather be inside. Plus the pastries and dessert options there are to die for.

Vivian Maier Mural – 1651 W North Ave

I recently shared this one on my own Instagram feed and realized that I had lived down the street from this mural for 3 years before stopping to take any photos. If you’re in Wicker Park, this wall is definitely worth a visit.

You are Beautiful Sign – Chinatown, Chicago

This wall is in the heart of Chinatown and accompanying the “You Are Beautiful” sign is the same message written in Chinese lettering!
