You’re heading to Seattle for the first time… your flight is booked, you saved a list of all of the photo-worthy spots you want to hit up, you may even have an idea of the restaurants you want to dine at while you’re in town. But what about your accommodations? These days it’s hard to find a place to start. There are so many options in larger cities and with the rise of social media sharing and accommodation booking apps, it can feel overwhelming picking the right spot. Do you go with a hotel or an Airbnb? Budget or luxury? Close to the city center or in a quieter, charming neighborhood?
As a travel blogger, I don’t spend a ton of time during the day at my hotel, but I still want something I can come back to at night that makes me feel like I’m being pampered. And even though I’m working on these trips, they are still a vacation away from my day job, the busy Windy City and my day to day crazy life back home so… yea, I want a place I can relax at while getting the most out of my money too!
Motif Seattle is an artistic, chic hotel nestled in the cozy downtown corner of Pike Street and 5th Ave. A premier, independent hotel, Motif Seattle captures the energizing, creative buzz of the cities art and fashion scene. It gives you that right-at-home vibe while also letting you leave your worries at home during your stay in the emerald city.
Location, Location, Location
As a city girl, I want to be in the heart of the action. I’ve grown to love the busy sidewalks, the view of cars passing by down below and looking out my window to see the skyline. In fact, this environment energizes me. I want to wake up and get to where I’m going with a short walk. In the case of downtown Seattle and the places I wanted to see, Motif Seattle offers just that.
Pike Place Market is presumably on every single visitors’ list when they come to Seattle. Motif Seattle is less than 5 blocks away from the market right down Pike Street. We conveniently bounced back and forth from the market to our hotel at least once a day, sometimes more, depending on what we had on our agenda for the day. The market has a lot to do – from dining to shopping to people watching and more. Being so close to the market made our days a lot easier, especially that morning I dragged my boyfriend out of bed at 6 a.m. so we could beat the crowd there to shoot our content 😉
The hotel is also 2 blocks away from the Westlake transit center so if you’re taking the train anywhere in the city (including to and from the airport), this location is perfect for you.
Convenient, On-site Dining
If you’re a big foodie (and drinkie – is that even a word!?) like me, going to a new city means experiencing the best dining options in town. I love it all, from fine dining to hole-in-the-wall hidden gems and everything in between. You need that caloric intake to keep energized for all the walking you do, right? If this sounds like you, then you’ll love that Motif Seattle has an on-site dining and bar option called Frolik Kitchen & Cocktails.
The restaurant and full-service bar is open 7 days a week and offers breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. They even have fantastic happy hour deals. Hello, appetizers and aperol spritz! If you think this couldn’t sound better, think again. My favorite part of the restaurant was the outdoor terrace and since they’re located on the 7th floor, you can take in the view of 3rd street from up above while enjoying your evening cocktail.
If you already tried the restaurant during your stay and are looking for something new, I highly recommend the pub located underneath the hotel. We went there for late night snacks after a long day of walking and really enjoyed their menu offerings. If bar food is your thing, don’t miss this spot!
As mentioned earlier in this blog post, finding a hotel that feels like I’m treating myself can be a key factor in my trip planning no matter where I’m going. We all know that hotels have a way of making their online photos of the room look…. erm… better (read: more spacious, higher quality) than the rooms look like in real life. I know, they’re a business and they need to sell themselves too. I can genuinely say that this is not the case with Motif Seattle. What you see is what you get, and I couldn’t have been happier with what I saw when we first walked into our room.
The hotel décor was modern, eclectic and exactly what I would expect for a spot in the middle of busy downtown Seattle. The wall of the living space was painted in a fun black and white pattern with a sectional couch in front of it, lime green throw pillows on top. The bed was spacious enough to allow my boyfriend and I space to relax each night when we went to sleep. We also pulled back the blinds to a beautiful view of downtown – our room happened to face the water which had a bonus view of the famous Ferris wheel by the pier. You know this city girl felt right at home in these rooms.
Choosing to stay at Motif Seattle was a no-brainer. This place truly checked off everything I look for in a hotel. Affordable, check. Great location, check. Great amenities, kind staff members and views that left me in love with Seattle, check, check and check! If you’re planning a trip to Seattle, I promise you won’t be disappointed with Motif.
*All opinions are my own. Thank you to Motif Seattle for hosting me during my stay.
